One of the things I want to do before I die is to fly with Austrian Airlines to Thessaloniki and sample some fine Greek food! Thessaloniki is nestled in north-central Greece and is accessible mostly by train and plane. The Greek Railroad Company, known as Trainose, is located at the center of the city and has daily connections to Athens and other nearby cities. There are many discounts with the train system, so even if the conductor does not mention these, ask for them just the same. Flights coming into Thessaloniki from Athens, Chios, Chania, Corfu, Heraklion, Kalamata, Mytilene, Lemnos, Rhodes, Skyros, Skiathos, Volos and Santorini are regularly maintained, as well as a couple seasonal only flights from Kos and Mykonos.
