Dnepropetrovsk is known for its high technology industries, institutions of higher education, machine-building, metallurgy and trade. Dnepropetrovsk has been a major center of the steel industry since the early 20th century. It has also gained the lead in machine building and aerospace industries since the 1950's. You can shop for anything you desire in the area known as Zhotneva Square. While in the Zhotneva, or the "October" Square, make sure to visit the fabulous Preobrazhensky Cathedral.
